October 23 is the date to save on your calendar for the very first Challenge Aruba 2016! This international triathlon makes the perfect excuse to come to one of the most popular destinations in the Dutch Caribbean at a time when many are making the transition to cooler fall weather. On Aruba, however, you’ll still enjoy perfect warm temperatures, sunny blue skies, and cooling trade winds. And you can stay in a luxury condo at Palm Aruba Conods for only $150/night!
The Challenge Aruba Course
The standard course includes a 1.9km (1.18-mile) swim, 90km (56-mile) bicycle ride, and a 21km (13-mile) run. The swim is a single-lap course in the warm, sparkling, crystal clear waters of the Caribbean sea along Palm Beach. The cycling course is made up of four laps along the coastline and up to the Aruba’s landmark California Lighthouse. The course for running is along several of Aruba’s most famous white-sand beaches with a finish at the The Hyatt Regency’s Aruba Resort Spa and Casino. Want to keep it short and sweet? Register for the sprint that consists of a 750m swim, 22.5km bicycle ride, and a 7km run.
Meet the Challenge Aruba Ambassadors
You can even register at Challenge Aruba to win a chance to meet and race alongside two of Challenge Aruba’s ambassadors: Tim De Boom or Marc Herremans. Tim de Boom is a 2X Hawaiian Ironman World Champion and the last American to win it, a 2015 USAT Hall of Fame Inductee, a 2X Pro Triathlete of the Year, and a 2X Pan American Team member at the Goodwill Games. Marc Herremans is a wheelchair athlete, the 2002 Ironman Hawaii Rookie of the year, the 2006 Ironman Hawaii Winner, the first wheelchair athlete to complete The Crocodile Trophy, and is the Founder of the To Walk Again Foundation.
