ARUBA SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL 2016
When it comes to music festivals in the Caribbean, the newest addition to the line-up is the Aruba Summer Music Festival (ASMF). Last year was its inaugural event, and festival organizers are pulling out all the stops for this year’s second installment of one of the best music events you’ll find anywhere in the Caribbean. Scheduled for June 24-26, here’s the line-up of superstars at the event:
Enrique Iglesias. Known worldwide as the King of Latin Pop, the Spanish-born singer and songwriter is currently touring the globe with his newest album, Sex and Love. With more than 137 million records sold worldwide, he’s one of the best-selling Spanish artists ever.
Destra. Destra Garcia was born in Trinidad and has become internationally acclaimed Soca Superstar, known especially for hugely entertaining, eye-popping, high-energy live performances.
Chino & Nacho. This wildly popular merengue/urban Venezuelan pop duo made up of Chino (Jesús Alberto Miranda Pérez) and Nacho (Miguel Ignacio Mendoza Donatti) won a Latin Grammy in 2010 for their Best Urban Album, Mi Niña Bonita.
Gente de Zona. Alexander Delgado founded this hot Cuban reggaeton (cubaton) group in 2000. It was launched into the international spotlight in 2014 when it collaborated with Enrique Iglesias on his 2014 release, Bailando, a track that won three Latin Grammy awards.
Wisin. Juan Luis Morera Luna (Wisin is his stage name) is a Puerto Rican reggaeton musician, songwriter and record producer who launched his solo career in 2004. His second studio album, El Regreso del Sobreviviente, won Latin Rhythm Album of the Year in 2015’s Latin Billboard Music Awards.
